March 6th, 2006

It’s time, once again for the Monday Message Board. As usual, civilised discussion and absolutely no coarse language, please.

    “Darwin is a nightmare.”

Not between May and August. Just about perfect at that time of year, with 10-20 degree nights and 20-30 degree days, low humidity, and no rain to spoil any picnics, though ocassionally a little windy. Excellent bike riding and camping weather. (Watch out for crocs.)

However, I grant that the heat and humidity during the rest of the year can be, umm, noticeable. Especially during the buildup, from September through to when the monsoon starts around Xmas.

    “Adelaide is perfect.”

    Really? REALLY?!?

Er… out of the entire land mass of Australia, Darwin, Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane etc cover less than the dimple in a perforation on the edge of a postage stamp.

The remaining 99.99999999….% of the continent is entirely inhabitable.

The remaining 99.99999999….% of the continent is entirely inhabitable.

Ever been there? From the top of Koscuisczko to the simpson desert, most of it is totally uninhabitable. Melbourne in autumn is just about perfect. And our slightly colder winters means we don’t ahve the disgusting cockroaches that Sydney has.

And I don’t jest in asking what have the Labor Premiers done, apart from not conform to your ideology. Tell me why Steve Bracks deserves prosecution?

Crispin Bennett: Michael: don’t bother with Brisbane if you are of manifest aboriginal descent …

Crispin did you see television footage of the woman beign taken to hospital?

She has light brown hair, light skin and definitely doesn’t appear to be “of manifest aboriginal descent”.

This is an appalling incident but I don’t think race played a part in it.

Ian, yes you may be right. It looks obvious enough to me that Delmae Barton is aboriginal, but that may well be an artifact of my foreknowledge.

Perhaps then I should revise my statement to “don’t bother with Brisbane if you are of manifest human origin”.

(disclaimer: I live in Brisbane, but am keeping my origins to myself).

Hal9000: We have not embraced water recycling here in Toowoomba. It is going to a referendum taht has been forced upon us unwillingly so we can decide on whether it happens or not it and I guarantee you we will kill the sick idea out the door once and for all and then boot the councillors out who dried to push this garbage on us at the next election as well! Watch and learn and you will see just how strong the community spirit is here in Toowoomba.

I just don’t have anything to say right now.

    I’m really impressed!
