Have a great time on the road Prof and have you had dinner with Krugman yet?
You better ask JK JNR to go to that dinner as well. At least some economists would be talking sense.
On another note – I notice Harvey of Harvey Norman stopped whinging about wanting the GST put on online purchases under $1000 because he was copping so much flack from people (emails etc).
My only question is, why on earth didnt Mr Harvey request the GST be taken OFF purchases in his store and other Australian stores under $1000.????
That would be a MUCH nicer way to equal things out and reduce inequality and create jobs (if he is so worried about competition and keeps bleating it will cost jobs)
I dont think so- given online sales only account for less than 2 percent of the retail market.
Give us a break Harvey. He is doing just fine in Australia…he just wants to slam another cost on the customer and keep the pressure on the government to keep herding people to his stores.
Ewww. Bully retailer.
Dear Pr Q,
How about setting up one of you blog appeals for the Queensland flood victims.
They are a bit under the weather at the moment.
Claire & I will be good for $50.00.
Jack Strocchi
I suggest that monies be donated to into the Premiers Appeal. The funds are made available to Queenslanders to spend as they please. I dare say they could use a bit of retail therapy.
