First weekly email

May 15th, 2017

As promised, I’ve started a weekly email (over the fold). If you would like to be on the recipient list, email me at [email protected]

If you asked to be added, but haven’t got it, try emailing me again, or commenting here.

Hi everyone,
Welcome to my first weekly email. It’s a bit old-school, I guess, but Hall Greenland asked if I would do one, and it makes sense, I think. Facebook and Twitter have pretty much killed old-style blogs like johnquiggin.com, but they don’t work all that well for the kinds of writing and communication I want to do.
At this stage, I’m mainly going to post links. I’ve found a way to download my Twitter tweets into a file, using an applet called Twlets. It would be great if readers could just click on something to take them to the tweet, but I haven’t managed to work that out yet (tech advice much appreciated). Most of the tweets have links to an article of interest, and, at a minimum, you can paste those into a browser.
I’ll also have a list of blog posts. At the risk of creating an infinite loop, I’m going to post the email, and link to it on my Facebook Public Page and on Twitter. Addresses are
johnquiggin.com, also at crookedtimber.org
https://www.facebook.com/JohnQuigginPublicPage/?ref=br_rs
@JohnQuiggin
Feel free to get in touch with advice, comments, criticism and congratulations, or post them on the blog. And, of course, you can unsubscribe at any time by sending me an email.
At this stage, the list is small enough (about 30 recipients) to handle manually. But if it gets bigger, I may try to use a mailing service. Google Groups has been suggested. All ideas welcome.
Best wishes
John
