  1. Doug – a P.O. box in Kelmscott? I would have thought that a bit small. The Kelmscott post office is not the biggest anyway.
The weather was shocking driving through there today. Did you cop it?

  2. Just to remind anyone interested that The Power of Nighmares, the three part Beeb series on the invention of the war on terror, starts tomorrow night on SBS. Runs for three nights in succession. Even if you don’t agree, it will be a cracker series, living proof that complex ideas can be run on the box.

  3. Andrew,

Waddya mean…”the weather was shocking”. I am a farmer’s son; cool, wet weather is welcome. Perth already has a hideously hot, dessicatingly bone dry summer. For a gardener, Perth’s summer is an enemy to be despised, loathed & rejected. Something to be endured rather than enjoyed. A pox on fine weather! I am a fifth generation West Australian; but the only reason I would leave Perth & WA is it’s summer. Tasmania is my ideal for a more humane & equable climate (particularly since the great drought started in 1977, no doubt due to global warming). As it (the drought) continues, and the climate of Kalgoorlie moves to the South-West, what price then for our Margaret River vineyards, wet scerophyll temperate climate karri forests, and cool(er) climate cheeses &c? If the current decline in rainfall continues, the South-West could become uninhabitable within half a century. Oh, and the PO Box…I do draw the line at giving my actual residential sddress – I don’t want a Molotov cocktail thrown over my fence.
