  1. Oh John, it’s designed to protect the coalition’s parliamentary majority! You know that.

  3. With Ken on that. Per some of the Crikey comments, it’s observing the success of Christofascist politics in the USA and attempting to import it here, while also giving a bit of a lift to their old friends the “employer groups”. More power to fire and discipline workers without any right of challenge by the worker… sounds excellent. Just wait until Hillsong declare that unions are unchristian and a whole lot of companies suddenly decide that they are run by devotees of that faith… and thus their workers may be fired for even mentioning unions.

  4. Hang on Moz, there’s the scripture union, uniting church, and for sure many more religionist unions I can’t recall just now. Oh don’t forget communion… so, there will be blood guaranteed. How many rounds will this ding-dong last?

  5. Ritual cannibalism has no place in a modern society, Svante.

To me one real test of religious freedom granting legal exemptions is marijuana. Rastifarianism is a very real religion and their cannabis sacrament is far less offensive than some other religious rituals (infant genital surgery and full immersion baptism of infants for example), yet somehow they don’t get a nod and a wink from our legislators.

I’d actually love to see someone declare that giving infants a Prince Albert was required by their religion and watch the far white go into a frothing rage at the mere suggestion.
