Viktor Orban lost the Hungarian election. That’s the first piece of good news for quite a while. I place the remainder of my global hopes in the EU. I haven’t really been a fan of their sub-optimal currency area and fiscal policies but the EU is still streets ahead of every other large polity on the issues of freedom, justice and equality. They are of a good size with significant economic power and are willing to stand up for their values.
