Hello everyone, it’s your friendly Ozblogistan Tyrant here.
I plan to migrate our servers to a different data centre tonight. There will be some disruption during the move, and it may take time for your DNS records to be updated.
We’re moving from the Fremont data centre, which has turned out to be about as reliable as a Ford Pinto, to the Dallas data centre (I look forward to your big-hats-and-oil jokes).
What is Fremont data centre? what is Dallas data centre?
waah it didn’t work.
Chris;
The actual hardware we ran on was previously in a building in Fremont, California. The site has now moved to different hardware in a building in Dallas, Texas.
Ozblogistan is hosted in the United States?!?
Reminds me of the blurb on the bottom of my daughter’s PVC gumboots – “Aussie Boot Factory – made in China”. π
@Jacques Chester
A book depository? Is the password to the server “Zapruder”? (Don’t answer that)
π
Linode?
So Texas is better than California?
TerjeP @ 7
Yes, they have minimum wage servers.
Australian traffic is too expensive. About 10x as much per byte, last time I checked.
Yep.
Linode’s Fremont data centre has failed 3 times this year. Its Dallas centre hasn’t. I held off moving because Dallas is about 50-80ms further away.
