Sandpit

A new sandpit for long side discussions, conspiracy theories, idees fixes and so on. I’ll open this by saying I agree with the view that even an optimal response to the pandemic by China would have given the world only a few days more notice, and that most Western governments would have wasted that time anyway.

  1. Hey Brendon, while you’re sharing your wisdom here, and since JQ’s blog has turned to this great source of wisdom and insight, I have a few questions I’d like you to answer.

    1. who really killed JFK?
    2. how can I protect myself from chemtrails?
    3. What is the AGW-chemtrail link and who is responsible?
    4. What is real cause of AIDS?
    5. Where is Harold Holt?

    Thanks!

  2. One could make an entire animated comedy series based on nothing more than Trump and Biden’s funny old fella speeches and tweets. This animated Great Uncle Joe anecdote had me in stitches

  3. That’s enough thanks. The sandpit is for regular commenters to pursue points that distract from regular discussion, including conspiracy theories. It’s not meant as a forum for conspiracly theorists, or trolls posing as such – JQ

  4. One thing about well educated left wingers and the main stream media that really annoys me is that they use the term “conspiracy theory” or “conspiracy theorist” as a blanket term to ridicule ALL narratives that do not agree with the the narrative that is most widely disseminated. There is more often than not no scientiific way to determine if something that is reported should or should not count as evidence in building a case that is not “orthodox” opinion. Whether or not testimoney is trusworthy is a judgement call. Whether or not the reported “facts” are relevent is a judgement call. Perhaps a better way to restate that is that HOW the reported “facts” are relevnet is a judgement call.

Labeling a non orthodox view a conspiracy theory is just a way to short circut peoples thinking. Of course not all conspiracy theories are equal. But the MSM trys to create an impression that all conspiracy theories are equal by consantly harping on points like, the people who believe in conspiracy theories are just looking for scape goats, as just one example of a dozen reasons why people should not believe in conspiracy theories. If a person is not allowed to believe in ANY conspiracy theory that person is effectively blinded by the glare of other peoples power.
